Heartland Girls' Ranch

Updated: Feb 27, 2020

According to their website, "Heartland Girls' Ranch serves an average of 60-70 girls each year providing housing, supportive services, mental health, therapeutic equine programming and a dedicated school for girls in their programs." Heartland Girls' Ranch is located in Benson, Minnesota. It was the farthest distance I traveled for any of our donations. The drive to drop off the flowers gave me time to think about these girls, and the difficulties that they have faced already in their lives. One of the programs that they offer, that I really appreciate, is the Hearts for Freedom Program. "Many of the girls referred to the Ranch have been victims of commercial sexual exploitation and/or have had life experiences that put them at high-risk of being trafficked. HGR has always served sexualy exploited youth, but began the work of identifying and providing specific programming for trafficked girls in 2003." It isn't uncommon anymore to hear about sex trafficking in the news, even the local news unfortunately. I often wonder what I can do to stop this awful epidemic, or what is being done to help the victims of these horrific acts. I think it is awesome to see an organization actively taking steps to help this underserved group. If you are interested in donating to this amazing organization, or just learning more information, please check out their website heartlandgirlsranch.org .
